New York Health Careers Website

Objectives: To establish and operate a Web-based health careers center, and compile data on health professions with extensive information on health careers in the New York.

Components: The Center has compiled data on 48 health professions, with extensive information on health careers in New York, including:
  • Descriptions of health occupations both generally and in terms of specific education/licensure requirements;
  • Listings of and electronic links (as applicable) to all schools in the occupation in the region;
  • Information on tuition and the application timetables; and
  • The current number of individuals in the occupation in New York and forecasts from the Bureau of Labor Statistics on future job growth.

This year, the Center:

  • Updated relevant profession-specific information including salary, number licensed, and projected demand;
  • Maintained all Web-links included on the site;
  • Added four additional health careers to the Web site, including:
    • cardiovascular technologist/technician
    • emergency medical technician/paramedic
    • human services worker
    • nurse technician/patient care associate
