Nurse Practitioners in New York State

Objectives: To produce a snapshot of New York State Nurse Practitioners, with particular emphasis on their educational background, practice patterns, and perceptions of the job market.

Program Dates: March 2000 - November 2004

Components: A survey of the over 9,000 nurse practitioners in New York State conducted in 2000.

A report based on the results of the survey was developed. The report contained a profile of these characteristics for all NPs, as well as an analysis of variation by age, graduation cohort, specialty certification, and race/ethnicity. A brief examination of the NPs who reported independent solo or group practice was also included.
